PSL Machinery and Ghana’s Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) signed a strategic public-private partnership in Hanoi, Vietnam. The ceremony took place at the Fairmont Hanoi Hotel and brought together senior representatives from both organizations, marking a defining moment in Vietnam-Ghana bilateral relations. For PSL Machinery, this signing reflects sustained engagement with Ghana’s agro-industrial leadership and the company’s long-term commitment to transforming cashew processing across Africa.

The Ghanaian delegation at the ceremony was led by Dr. Andrews Osei Okrah, CEO of TCDA, alongside H.E. Mrs. Florence Buerki Akonor, Ghanaian High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Ms. Alexandra Asiamah, Head of Chancery of the Ghana High Commission in Malaysia. Their presence underscores the diplomatic weight Ghana places on this partnership. It reflects a shared conviction at both government and industry levels that industrial modernization in the cashew sector demands structured, cross-border collaboration.

This partnership directly supports Ghana’s national target to raise domestic cashew processing yield to 60%. President H.E. John Dramani Mahama set this target as a key policy priority for Ghana’s agro-industrial development. To achieve this target, Ghana’s cashew industry needs to strengthen and upgrade the entire processing chain, from raw cashew processing to finished cashew product output. To advance this goal, PSL Machinery will deliver end-to-end cashew factory solutions. These cover factory design, machinery supply, operational training, and exclusive programs for local cashew processors across Ghana.
The ultimate objective is to position Ghana as a model of modern cashew industrialization. Furthermore, both parties aim to establish Ghana as one of Africa’s leading cashew processing hubs. Ghana currently ranks among the world’s top cashew producers, yet a significant share of its raw cashews has historically left the country unprocessed. As a result, Ghana has missed substantial value along the supply chain. This partnership directly addresses that gap, equipping Ghana’s industry with the technology, infrastructure, and expertise to process more cashews domestically.

The signing ceremony also featured a meaningful exchange between both parties. Ghanaian delegation presented Mr. John Azar, Chairman of PSL Group, with a commemorative cup and traditional Ghanaian scarves. These tokens of goodwill captured the depth of trust both sides bring to this collaboration. In turn, the gesture reinforced that this partnership goes well beyond a transactional agreement. Both parties built this relationship through consistent dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared vision for Ghana’s cashew future.

Beyond industrial targets, this partnership carries a clear social mandate. Planned initiatives will build capacity among smallholder farmers, cooperatives, women, and youth across Ghana. Consequently, Ghana’s industrial advancement will translate into broad-based improvements across the entire cashew value chain. PSL Machinery and TCDA are aligned in their belief that true industrial progress must be inclusive, and that the gains of modernization should reach every stakeholder from the farm level upward.
