Africa’s cashew sector plays a significant role in global production. Across the continent, producing countries are increasingly shifting toward deeper processing to capture greater value at origin and strengthen their integration into the global cashew value chain.

Africa’s cashew industry is entering a new phase of structural growth, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 3.7% and an estimated market value reaching USD 1.2 billion in the coming years.
Major producing countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and others are increasingly prioritizing domestic processing and value addition rather than exporting raw cashew nuts. This strategic shift aims to capture greater economic value within producing countries while strengthening local agro-industrial development.
Despite strong raw material availability, many African markets continue to face constraints related to underdeveloped infrastructure & logistics, processing technology, and technical expertise. As a result, a significant gap remains between raw cashew production and modern processing capacity. This gap presents a meaningful opportunity for industrial investors and technology providers to support the development of local processing infrastructure while participating in the long-term growth of the African cashew sector.
