GHANA MOVES TO END RAW CASHEW EXPORTS AND BUILD DOMESTIC PROCESSING POWER

Ghana’s decision to ban raw cashew exports marks a decisive turning point for the country’s agricultural sector. Announced by President John Dramani Mahama at the Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition 2026, the policy aims to accelerate domestic processing and retain more value from the cashew nuts within Ghana’s economy.

With approximately 250,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts produced annually – and around 95% historically exported in raw form – the shift toward 50 to 60% local processing represents a major structural transformation. It signals not only industrial expansion, but also rising demand for modern, high-efficiency processing infrastructure capable of delivering consistent export-grade quality. For cashew processors, upgrading, scaling, or building processing capacity is no longer optional – it is strategic.

Invited to participate in the summit, PSL Machinery is honoured to present our Ghana Cashew Development Plan – a strategic framework designed to support the country’s transition toward large-scale, value-added processing. The proposal generated strong interest among stakeholders and was recognized for its alignment with Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda.

Through active engagement with government and industry leaders, PSL Machinery reinforces its role at the forefront of Ghana’s cashew processing transformation. With advanced cashew processing technology and integrated cashew factory solutions, we are ready to work alongside processors and investors to upgrade facilities, expand capacity, and build world-class cashew processing hubs that support Ghana’s shift from raw exports to high-value cashew production.
